Located on the Pacific coast of Mexico, Puerto Escondido was our favourite part of Mexico.
This city is just amazing, you feel good right away !
The people are chill, the beaches are beautiful, there are good restaurants, you can surf : everything we love !
It's a bit of a surf camp atmosphere (especially on the Zicatela side where you have all the bars, restaurants, hostels etc...)
One thing that is not missing in this city is its incredible beaches ! We were truly amazed by their beauty.
So we decided to share with you through this article, our 5 favorite beaches of Puerto Escondido !

On this side of the beach the waves are there, and this is not to the displeasure of the surfers!
Here the rollers are scrolling, so surfers, get your boards !
This beach is juxtaposed with a large avenue which concentrates a lot of restaurants (which are very good by the way) and small shops.
In the evening the streets are very lively, and the spirit of lightness hangs over this place. It's quite a young place! If you want to have a drink or go to a bar, this is the place to be.
Here are our good places to eat :
-Barrio Cafe (for brunch, their brunches are delicious)
-Smoke Shake (for BBQ food, different from usual, we enjoyed it a lot)
-Lychee Thai Food (atypical and chill atmosphere that will make you travel, we advise you to take the pad thaï which was excellent)
Playa Carizallilo

This is our favourite spot in Puerto Escondido !
The entrance to this beach is simply splendid! The first time we arrived there we were overwhelmed.
To reach this beach, you have to go down several stairs in the middle of the vegetation (you also have to go up them on the way back, and it's not so much fun, but it's really worth it !)
Once on the beach, you will find restaurants and beach bars set up by the locals. You can eat, drink or even rent sunbeds in shaded areas.
This beach offers the possibility to snorkel quite easily (very little current and very clear water).
You can also rent a surfboard or take a surf lesson to enjoy the waves which are quite accessible in terms of level.
The only drawback is that the rental of boards on the beach is quite expensive (250 pesos or about 12€ per person for 1 hour).
Ideal for your sunsets... we can only recommend you this magic place which made us vibrate during 1 week !
Playa Puerto Angelito

As with Carizallilo beach, you will access these beaches by means of stairs. To the right you go towards Puerto Angelito and to the left towards Manzanillo.
The beach of Puerto Angelito have little space. Indeed, it is the home of many fishing boats and excursion boats. Would you like to go to sea and discover the surroundings ? You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to finding your boat.
For those who wish to do so, there are also restaurants to choose from. If you are a fish lover, you should find what you are looking for !
And Playa Manzanillo

For the Manzanillo beach you will discover a very nice setting, a beach in the middle of rocks, favorable for
snorkeling !
Nestled in the palm trees, you will quickly see small restaurants ideal for a bite to eat or a drink.
We recommend you to go there during the week as it is more quiet, but at the weekend this beach is very popular with the locals.
Playa Bacocho

This beach was also a huge crush for us. Indeed, it was here that we were able to release baby turtles into the ocean. An incredible and unforgettable experience.
This was made possible thanks to the association Vivemar. This organisation exists since 2011 and fights for the protection of this endangered species.
We paid about thirty euros per person for this activity, which we do not regret, because this money allows the association to obtain more resources and to continue to exist over time.
Apart from this activity, Bacocho beach is also a beautiful beach, more discreet and set back from any tourist activity, it is also more difficult to access (very long to get there on foot).
The sunset is magical !

An intimate beach, it remains the wildest and least touristy of the entire coast !
To get there you will have to walk a long time or have your own means of transport.
This beach is the small neighbour of Bacocho beach.
Do you want to sunbathe, swim and relax ? This is the beach for you !
You can take advantage of this calm to discover crystal clear waters.
We let you put on your fins and snorkels to explore the beautiful sea bed.
If you are lucky, you might even spot a turtle !
